Two Winners Could WIN $500 Plus a Chance to Display Art for Buyers at the Leading BIPOC Art Gallery in Dallas, 500x Gallery to Raise Awareness of CONSENT in Healthy Relationships
“Art of Consent” Competition & Art Show
Ntarupt is partnering with Dallas’ Gallery 500x to host its first-ever “Art of CONSENT” competition and artists exhibition. The goal is to showcase local, North Texas artists, while furthering conversations about CONSENT in relationships and how it empowers decision making on reproductive health, specifically regarding the prevention of teen pregnancies and STIs.
Yes, no, stop, unsure. When it comes to “consent” in healthy relationships, it’s important young adults know not only how to express themselves, but why.
Consent is still a confusing topic for teens. Most don’t fully understand what it means and when it needs to be given. And, unfortunately it is not always been taught at home, nor included in the newly adopted Sex Education Curriculum standards in Texas. Schools will focus more on abstinence and birth control than consent.
Ntarupt is dedicated to providing information and resources to youth and their families to help them make the most informed choices about consent and what the consequences of unprotected sex could look like.
The “Art of Consent” Competition & Art Show will be broken into three rounds:

500X Gallery, our partner
500X Gallery is one of Texas’ oldest, artist run, cooperative galleries.
Established in 1978, 500X provides one of the best exhibition spaces to up and coming artists in the city of Dallas. The gallery is located in a historic circa 1916 tire factory and air-conditioning warehouse and has over 3000 square feet of exhibition space. The plan for 500X Gallery was developed by two artists: Will Hipps, a Massachusetts native who moved to Dallas to teach, and Richard Childers, a local painter. The goal was to provide a space for artists to exhibit free of outside influences and dealer restrictions. Over the last 40+ years, their plans have succeeded through allowing local artists the opportunity to share their work with the public in a professional venue. For many alumni, 500X has served as an entry point into the art world and have subsequently become prominent artists in the Metroplex and elsewhere including Vincent Falsetta, Otis Jones, Nic Nicosia, Frances Bagley, Tom Orr, Frank X. Tolbert, Randall Garrett and Paul Booker to name a few. 500X Gallery exhibits work by current members as well as by guest artists who are featured monthly in our galleries. This allows 500X to continue to foster and introduce other artists from Texas as well as national and international artists to the Dallas/ Fort Worth art scene.
Every year 500X hosts a show titled “Expo”, which exhibits a survey of submitted works, juried by an esteemed individual in the local North Texas arts community. In the spirit of our mission statement, we also feature an unjuried “Open Call” for any artist wishing to exhibit their work for a small fee. In 2018, 500x celebrated 40 years of providing an alternative space to the Dallas arts community. 500X Members are grateful to the community and to all of the individuals therein for 40 years of care, energy and continued support.
