There’s a growing consensus that educating and supporting young women creates a positive ripple effect and lifts up entire countries. Around the world, local organizations are finding creative ways to empower young women. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, Hero Women Rising combines social media and grassroots activism to overcome poverty, war and patriarchal traditions. In Dallas, Texas, where the high school pregnancy rate is 50 percent above the U.S. average, NTARUPT’s filmmaking contest empowers teens to educate each other on reproductive choices.
Each GLOBAL MOSAIC program will be streamed in its entirety on the Link TV and KCET websites which will also feature articles that provide information on the content of each program, related videos, links to organizations working on the issues and more. Short video clips from each episode will be made available to viewers on KCET and Link TV’s social media platforms.
