As of July 1, 2020, Ntarupt began full operations under it’s own 501(c)(3). But the road wasn’t easy, and we could not have done it without the support of community leader, the Dallas Foundation, who acted as Ntarupt’s fiscal sponsor from 2013 until 2020.
When individuals and organizations in Dallas came together wanting to address teen pregnancy as an alliance, the task seemed daunting for a myriad of reasons. 1) It is a difficult topic that necessitates giving reliable and straightforward information to teens – “People talk about sex, but nobody really talks about sex” ~ area teen; 2) to drive the work forward and make an impact, Ntarupt was going to need employees, and 3) Ntaupt needed a financial structure in order to raise money, disburse money and grow. Our first donor, Gary Ahr, introduced us to the Dallas Foundation, and the rest is history.
Because of the fiscal sponsorship, Ntarupt was able to pursue a federal grant in 2015 with the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Ntarupt received this funding, and with it was able to fund teen pregnancy prevention efforts in Dallas for over 5 years, educating over 5000 teens and parents along with sub-contractors, the Concilio, UT Southwestern, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas, Girls Inc and Texas Woman’s University. This work put teen pregnancy prevention on the to do list for Dallas, and the financial oversight of this work was a real challenge.
Ntarupt is profoundly grateful to the following people at the Dallas Foundation for the faith, hard work, heart, staying power and friendship over these past years.
